Immortals have picked up their first victory at the SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 finals after defeating UYA 16-11 on Cobblestone.
The match began with an A split from UYA in the pistol round, and it looked promising for the Chinese at first after getting an entry kill on long A, but they collapsed once Immortals' rotation came in, with Lincoln "fnx" Lau getting three kills.
Once then got money in the bank, UYA found their B rushes to be very effective, and they executed this strategy four times in a row, leaving their opponents in disarray and in need of a tactical pause to slow down their opponents' momentum.
With a trio of Desert Eagle kills from fnx, Immortals hit back on an eco round, but UYA regained control of the game with yet another fast B play, resetting the Brazilians' economy. Immortals would go on to win another eco, this time thanks to a triple kill from Lucas "steel" Lopes. That round turned the game on its head as the Brazilians went on to win three of the final four rounds of the half to secure a narrow 8-7 lead.
Immortals are now 1-2 in Kiev
Immortals further added to their lead by winning the pistol round and the corresponding anti-ecos on the Terrorist side. The first gun round went UYA's way, thanks to a triple kill from Wei "shuadapai" Wang, but Immortals rallied back in the following round.
The Brazilian team continued to dictate the pace of the game and eventually hit match point. shuadapai and ZhiHai "QKA" Fu kept their team in the game with impressive individual plays, but it was simply not enough as the Chinese side would be taken down in an anti-eco round.
PoTM: With a +23 KDD and and a 129.7 ADR, Ricardo "boltz" Prass was by far Immortals' top performer, helping the team to secure a crucial victory in Kiev and avoid elimination.
